About the Treatment
Gum disease (periodontitis) is a bacterial infection that destroys the soft tissue and bone supporting your teeth. Advanced gum treatment uses deep cleaning (scaling and root planing), laser therapy, or periodontal surgery to eliminate infection, reduce gum pockets, and regenerate bone.
At Dental Quest, our periodontists offer minimally invasive laser-assisted gum treatments. Lasers target and destroy bacteria within gum pockets without damaging healthy tissue, resulting in less bleeding, minimal discomfort, and faster healing times.
Halting periodontal infection is essential to prevent bone loss, tooth mobility, and systemic health complications.
YOUR JOURNEY
A clinical approach designed to eliminate bacteria and promote gum healing.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about gum disease and laser periodontics at Dental Quest – Dwarka Sector 19
Signs include bleeding gums while brushing, swollen or red gums, persistent bad breath, and loose teeth.
Yes. Normal cleaning removes tartar above the gum line. Deep cleaning goes below the gum line to clean the tooth roots.
No. Laser therapy is very gentle, often requiring minimal local anesthesia, with little to no post-treatment pain.
Early gum disease (gingivitis) can be reversed. Advanced disease (periodontitis) cannot be fully cured but can be successfully managed.
For patients with a history of periodontitis, supportive gum maintenance is recommended every 3 to 4 months.
Untreated periodontitis leads to progressive bone destruction around teeth, ultimately resulting in teeth becoming loose and falling out.

The questions patients ask us most that are not covered above.
Yes. Scaling is on the CGHS dental schedule, and Dental Quest is CGHS empanelled and NABH accredited. More extensive periodontal treatment is assessed case by case – our panel desk will confirm what your referral covers before treatment begins.
No. Scaling removes hardened tartar that has been irritating the gums and, in advanced cases, splinting loose teeth together. Teeth can feel slightly different once that deposit is gone, and sensitivity for a few days is common, but the procedure does not damage enamel or loosen healthy teeth. Leaving tartar in place is what loosens teeth.
Every six months for most people. If you have a history of gum disease, smoke, or have diabetes, every three to four months is usually recommended because plaque re-forms faster and the tissues are less resilient.
