About the Treatment
Wisdom tooth removal is a surgical procedure to extract one or more wisdom teeth – the four permanent adult teeth located at the back corners of your mouth. When a wisdom tooth doesn’t have room to grow (impacted wisdom tooth), it can cause severe pain, infection, or damage to other teeth, requiring prompt removal.
At Dental Quest, our oral surgeons perform surgical extractions using local anesthesia or conscious sedation. Our advanced diagnostics and precise techniques minimize trauma to surrounding tissues, ensuring a comfortable procedure and a quick, smooth recovery.
Timely removal of impacted wisdom teeth relieves pressure, prevents decay, and protects your surrounding dentition.

No. Local anesthesia completely numbs the site. You will feel pressure, but no pain. Any post-op discomfort is easily managed with prescribed medication.
Most patients recover within 3 to 5 days. Swelling and mild tenderness are normal, but they subside quickly with rest and proper care.
Wisdom teeth should be removed if they are impacted, causing pain, crowding other teeth, showing signs of decay, or leading to gum infections.
You should eat soft foods (e.g., yogurt, soup, smoothies) for the first 24-48 hours. Avoid hot, spicy, or crunchy foods, and do not drink through a straw.

The questions patients ask us most that are not covered above.
Yes. Tooth extraction, including complicated and impacted extractions, is on the CGHS dental schedule. Dental Quest is CGHS empanelled and NABH accredited, and pensioners and other eligible categories are treated cashless.
No. Wisdom teeth sit at the very back of the jaw and removing them does not alter facial structure, jawline or cheek shape. Swelling in the first few days can make the face look temporarily fuller, which is where this idea comes from, but it settles completely within about a week.
No. A wisdom tooth that has erupted fully, is cleanable and is causing no problems can be left alone. Removal is indicated when it is impacted, repeatedly infected, decaying, damaging the tooth in front, or trapped in a position you cannot clean. We assess with an OPG X-ray rather than removing them routinely.
